Essential Oils For Pregnancy

I have been asked quite a few times since I had baby David all about using essential oils during pregnancy. It is a very popular topic and very few people have answers. I used essential oils all during my pregnancy they were a HUGE help through every stage. I used them with morning sickness, back pain, stretch marks, anxiety attacks, mood swings, and even to treat/prevent sickness. This is what I used during my pregnancy. You have to understand though that oils work differently on each person just like not all medications are right for everyone. So your results with the oils may be a little different than mine. But this is a great place to start if you are pregnant or know someone who is.

I had terrible morning sickness during the first trimester. I felt awful. It was more like all day sickness. I did not want to eat very much or move at all. I mostly ate ramen noodles and rice. It was bad. Once I got a job though I had to suck it up and work through the sickness. During this time I used DiGize. It has a very potent smell and if that made you sick you could use Aromaease. It is basically the same except it is missing the oils with the potent smells. Or my sister used Ginger for her morning sickness.

I think with any pregnancy back pain is inevitable and if you get none you are so lucky! I had back pain starting very early. I was miserable. I was always changing positions and never could get comfortable. I brought heating pads to work and everything. I did find a lot of relief though with these 3 oils: Panaway, Deep Relief Roll On, and Ortho Sport Massage Oil. Deep Relief and Panaway I used at work. Ortho Sport I got Daniel to rub on my back when I needed it. It was the best part of my day!

One of my biggest fears of pregnancy was getting stretch marks. I can tell you two things about them 10 I successfully prevented them and 2) They can appear ANYWHERE! So I assumed you could only get stretch marks on your belly and I used Gentle Baby essential oils mixed with coconut oil and shea butter. I rubbed it on my belly every night. I have NO stretch marks on my belly! It worked wonders. What no one told me was that you can get stretch marks on your calves, thighs, butt, and love handles. So I have stretch marks in ALL of those places. So lesson for you ladies bath yourself in the Gentle Baby oil mix!

Pregnancy is a wildly hormonal ride. I had anxiety attacks, mood swings, and uncontrollable crying. It is a crazy time to say the least. You could like most women get put on an antidepressant. But those pose know and unknown risks to your baby. I used Stress Away, Joy, and Lavender to help keep my emotions in check. Now you do have to let them out. But I had many moods swings at work and with the oils I was able to control them enough that I wasn't a mess.

Sickness is always running rampant. One thing I hate the most was my pregnancy was started on antibiotics for a UTI. It last about 1 and a half months. I was on 4 different antibiotics trying to get rid of it. None of them worked and I wasn't about to try more like the doctors suggested. I used oils and cranberry juice to cure it. I use Purification and Thieves. I also kept from getting the flu while pregnant even when my coworkers were sick. I used Thieves, Thieves hand sanitizer, R.C., and Peppermint. I did not get sick.

Now I know tons people say oils are too risky to use during pregnancy. I have no scientific knowledge of that. But I do suggest staying away from 3 oils: Jasmine, Sage, and Fennel. Jasmine can induce labor. Sage can dry up breast milk. Fennel can increase breast milk production. All 3 of those you do not need during your pregnancy and I would suggest staying away from them.
